Shijiazhuang Iron & Steel Co. Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Shigang) is located in Shijiazhuang city, the capital of Hebei province. As the important commercial center in North China and the business door of Beijing and Tianjin, it possesses very convenient transportation and great advantage of geographical conditions, which provide favorable environment for development of the enterprise.
  Being built in 1957, Shigang now has achieved the annual capacity of 2 million tons steel and is gradually transferred from a normal steel enterprise into a special steel company mainly producing automobile steel. It is an important large and medium scale integrated enterprise in China and one of 520 National Key Enterprises. It was one of 500 National Strong Enterprises And Information Construction Enterprises in 2003 and awarded national “May the first” prize in 2000. In 2004, it achieved products income from sales RMB￥6.552 billion, profits and taxes RMB￥721 million and profits RMB￥440 million.
  Presently Shigang adopts integrated plants of sintering, iron making, steel making, and steel-rolling as well as short flow of EAF and steel rolling to organize production. The equipment for steel making is in national advanced level. The bar continuous rolling line with capacity 600000t/y is in international updated level, which was defined as Asian Demonstration Production Line by VAI POMINI in 2002.
  As the biggest producer for 45# high quality carbon structural round bar in China, Shigang defines five series of steel grade as leading products, namely, high-quality carbon structural steel, alloy structural steel, gear steel, spring steel and bearing steel, among which, 45#, 40Cr, 20CrMo, 20CrMnTi alloy structural steel, 20CrMoA sucker rod steel and 20# high-quality carbon structural tube blank won “Golden Cup Prize” for product quality. The products of Shigang have successfully entered into China No. 1 and No. 2 Automobile Manufacture Company and also adopted by Japan Toyota automobile manufacturer.
  Shigang guarantees the quality of on-line products and ex-work products through perfect quality-monitoring system. In 2003, it was awarded the title of “National Quality-profit Enterprise”, “National Customer Satisfied Enterprise in 2003” and “Provincial Customer Satisfied Enterprise” with many kinds of products listed as Provincial Customer Satisfied Products. Shigang passed the quality system certification of ISO9002 in 1997 and completed the change of standard version from ISO9001-2000 in 2002. In addition, it actively implemented the authentication of Profession Safety And Healthy Management System and ISO14000 environment management system. It passed the both authentication of OSH/EMS. On that basis, Shigang began to combine the three systems from May 2004 in order to mutually satisfy the requirements of ISO9001, OHSMS18001, ISO14000 and form into a more effective management system. Presently, the combined management system is operated effectively.
  The information construction project ERP system was put into operation on Dec. 1st, 2003, which marks the periodic achievement of Shigang’s information construction. The implementation of ERP shall realize market-oriented, digitalization and flatness of the enterprise management style. Shigang was listed in 500 National Strong Information Construction Enterprise in 2003. On Jan. 10th, 2004, Shigang started up the second stage of information construction project with the service supplied by HP company. During the second stage of this project, the implementation of SAP will be enlarged into other functional modules and much more satisfy the general requirements of information construction. Moreover, Shigang cooperated with Beijing Scientific & Technical University to establish a research center of bar steel for automobile, which settled stable foundation for Shigang to become strong enterprise for production of automobile steel.
  Shigang insists on “verge-fine products” strategy and takes “there is always something better, nothing is perfect, but the best is out common pursuit” as enterprise’s ideology. The developing Shigang hopes to create prosperous future together with all friends from home and abroad.
